How to activate, deactivate the license?

This is done when a user wishes to move his license from one PC to another. For example, newer, faster hardware becomes available.

Pre-setup requirements:

The license serial in the old PC should be keyed into the new PC before the following steps are attempted.

Before SolidWorks 2017 Version:

1. On old PC, in SOLIDWORKS, go to Help > Transfer License

2. Follow on-screen instructions. At the end, SOLIDWORKS will display a dialog, and automatically shut down.

After SolidWorks 2017 Version:

1. On old PC, in SOLIDWORKS, go to Help > Deactivate License

2. Follow on-screen instructions. At the end, SOLIDWORKS will display a dialog, and automatically shut down.

3. On new PC, run SOLIDWORKS. An activation dialog will appear. Select the 1st option. Click next, and follow on-screen instructions.

4. If successful, a success dialog appears. SOLIDWORKS is now activated on the new PC.
